The major group show of contemporary Chinese artists, recently shown in Italy, and including two of CPU:798’s artists, will move on to the UK in February 2009.

The Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts will be hosting this expanded version of the show, curated by Zhang Wei of Vitamin Creative Space, Davide Quadrio of BizArt in Shanghai and Li Zhenhua of Beijing Art Lab. Artists included are Lu Chunsheng, Wu Ershan, Cao Fei, Yang Fudong, Duan Jianyu, Zhao Liang Pak, Ren Qin Ga, Shen Shaomin, Shueng-chuen, Xu Tan, Tseng Yu-Chin, Zheng Yunhan, Wang Yuyang, Chu Yun, Kan Xuan.

Wang Yuyang’s ever-popular Artificial Moon will again be shown, and Zheng Yunhan will be creating a new version of his major piece, Sunflower Plan, which was first shown at the Nanjing Triennial in October 2008. This new version will be printed to a larger size, approximately 16m in length, to do justice to the detail in the image and it’s immersive effect.

Laoban Xmas Mixing Event at CPU:798

Posted by Edward on Friday, December 12th, 2008

Our last event of 2008 is the Laoban Xmas Mixing Event, taking place tonight at the Gallery space.

We invite all to come out to the launch of version 1.0 of the Laoban Soundsystem for a special Holiday Mixing Event at CPU:798. This is a new type of media event where all are welcome to join, bring media, laptops, video players, cameras, and other recording devices. The goal is to mix media, explore what artists, DJs, musicians, designers, and architects are working on RIGHT NOW — successes, failures, and rough edges are welcome at Laoban events! The ultimate plan is for consumers to be producers by both mixing media, and by tagging any recordings they have with “laoban” when posting onto twitter.com, flickr.com, identi.ca, or other places.
